NY Sun Works
What: NY Sun Works has built 130 greenhouse science classrooms in NY and NJ public schools. Their Greenhouse Project Initiative uses hydroponic farming technology to educate students and teachers about the science of sustainability. In the 2019-20 school year, the by-product of these greenhouses was 100,000 lbs of veggies.
Goal: Develop new curriculum and classroom materials. The idea behind our work was to guide students and teachers through a variety of ways to use the fresh produce by either selling it, cooking it or distributing it to a local food pantry.
Notable: Studio Usher received an Ideas That Matter grant that covered the costs of creative development and production.
